Maritime and Southport Eastern Access Active Travel
Land acquisition services for Active Travel schemes in the Sefton Council borough area.
The challenge
The project involves the delivery of interconnected highway junctions and active travel in several phases in industrial locations between Bootle and Aintree and in a predominantly retail warehousing area at the Eastern Access to Southport.
What we did
We provided land referencing and acquisition services supporting the project from its initial stages with land owner engagement through to CPO Public Inquiry and land acquisition.
Our role included:
- Land Referencing and acquisition of approximately 85 interests and rights
- Managed objections for Public Inquiry
- Negotiated acquisition of Freehold and Leasehold interests in land to facilitate the scheme with landowners and their agents
- Liaison with Sefton Council’s Highways Engineers to ensure a co-ordinated approach to landowners
Why it worked
- Land Acquisition and Referencing worked together seamlessly
- Purchase by agreement on key sites gave us early land certainty and enabled early works and assisted construction
- Initial Land Referencing and evaluation of land plots enabled re-routing of scheme to minimise land costs
- Collaborative delivery with other disciplines
