{"id":1694,"date":"2021-09-15T10:41:24","date_gmt":"2021-09-15T09:41:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.slcproperty.co.uk\/?p=1694"},"modified":"2021-09-15T10:41:24","modified_gmt":"2021-09-15T09:41:24","slug":"second-northumberland-line-station-approved","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pennstudiostaging.co.uk\/slc-property-2025\/second-northumberland-line-station-approved\/","title":{"rendered":"Second Northumberland Line station approved"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Northumberland Park is the second\u00a0new station for the Northumberland Line that has been given the go-ahead after it received planning permission.<\/p>\n<p>SLC Property is supporting Northumberland County Council by submitting and managing the planning applications and associated property aspects.<\/p>\n<p>North Tyneside Council\u00a0granted planning permission for the station at\u00a0Northumberland Park \u2013 which will\u00a0be built alongside the current Metro station\u00a0near\u00a0Backworth &#8211; on Tuesday (13 September).<\/p>\n<p>Rob Smart, Managing Director of SLC Property said:\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s great news to see further progress on this important new line, with another proposed station receiving planning permission in less than a week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Northumberland Line will radically improve transport connectivity and bring prosperity to the region and getting station planning approval is a vital step in making this possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Northumberland County\u00a0Council Leader Glen Sanderson said: \u201cThe scheme is really\u00a0picking up pace and we&#8217;re delighted the second station has now been approved.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a key link and will provide rail users easy access to the business and retail hubs of North Tyneside\u00a0including Cobalt and Silverlink, as well as linking\u00a0in to\u00a0the Metro network.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Along with\u00a0the benefits to the economy, education tourism, this line will bring a range of green benefits to support our climate change agenda, helping to reduce congestion and improve air quality on key roads by moving people away from car travel and onto public transport.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>North Tyneside Deputy Mayor, Cllr Carl Johnson said: \u201cThis is great news for our residents, helping to connect Northumberland with North Tyneside and the wider region.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are absolutely committed to reducing the borough\u2019s carbon footprint, which is why we declared a climate emergency in\u00a02019, and\u00a0encouraging and enabling people to travel more sustainably is a key part of this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The reopening of the Northumberland Line\u00a0will deliver\u00a018 miles of upgraded track, six new stations,\u00a0associated access improvements\u00a0and new signal locations. The whole scheme is expected to deliver economic benefits of up to \u00a3470m\u00a0and is due to be open by 2024.<\/p>\n<p>The other stations proposed are at Bedlington,\u00a0Blyth\u00a0Bebside, Newsham\u00a0and\u00a0Seaton\u00a0Delaval.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s planned to run a half hourly service\u00a0between Newcastle and Ashington, with an anticipated journey time between Ashington\u00a0and Northumberland Park of\u00a023\u00a0minutes\u00a0and\u00a0Newcastle\u00a0and Northumberland Park\u00a0of\u00a012\u00a0minutes.    \t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Northumberland Park is the second\u00a0new station for the Northumberland Line that has been given the go-ahead after it received planning permission.
