Last week, two of our team joined Northumberland Line colleagues to take part in volunteering at the Woodhorn Museum in Ashington.<\/p>\n
The team was supporting a volunteering initiative to re-open a narrow gauge railway.\u00a0\u00a0Under the guidance of museum volunteers, Alannah and Rosie rolled up their sleeves to lay ballast, position new sleepers, re-lay old track, and hammer in new railway spikes – quite different from their normal roles in planning.<\/p>\n
Alannah said: \u201cIt was tough work but rewarding to help a grassroots project who are seeking to provide an affordable tourist attraction for the people of Ashington.
