  • Our screws are hot-dip galvanised and CE approved, with a 20-year guarantee as standard. In most cases they’ll last decades longer, giving you reliable foundations for 30–50 years depending on conditions.

  • Most likely, but do ask us first. We’ve supplied screws for clay, sand, peat, and even rocky ground. With different lengths and specifications, we can match the right product to your site. If in doubt, our team can advise.

  • Ground screws themselves don’t require permission, but the structure you’re building might. If you’d normally need permission for an extension or large garden building, you’ll still need it regardless of the foundation type.

  • Properly installed, screws handle everything from small sheds and decks to full modular buildings. For larger projects, we carry out on-site load testing and provide the documentation needed for building control.

  • Many people do. With the right tool (which can be rented or purchased), you can install screws for sheds, decking, or even garden rooms. For bigger builds or when paperwork is needed, our installation teams cover the whole of the UK.

  • Both are screw-based foundation systems. Ground screws are smaller steel shafts with helical blades that can be installed by hand or with lightweight machinery – they’re ideal for domestic and light commercial projects such as decking, garden rooms, sheds, and fencing.

    Helical screw piles are larger, heavier-duty foundations consisting of steel tubular shafts with precisely welded helical plates. They’re machine-installed using excavators equipped with rotary torque drivers, allowing them to reach deeper into the soil and support much greater loads. 

    In both cases, you get the core benefits of screw foundations – no concrete, no cure time, instant load-bearing capacity, and minimal site disruption.

  • Yes. Unlike smaller ground screws – which are available for DIY self-installation – helical screw piles require machine installation using a tracked machine or excavator fitted with a rotary torque driver and integrated torque monitoring system. This is carried out by our trained, in-house installation teams.

    Professional installation also means you receive a comprehensive torque pile log for every pile, detailing installation torque, depth, pile identification, and performance data. This is typically required by structural engineers and building control for larger projects. 

    Our team handles everything from site survey and GPS mark out through to final levelling and documentation, so you have complete confidence in your foundations from day one.

    Helical screw piles bypass all of that. They’re machine-installed in hours, instantly load-bearing, and produce no spoil or waste. Every pile is monitored during installation using calibrated torque equipment, which rapidly provides verified load data.

    For engineers and building control, the documentation is straightforward – comprehensive torque pile logs and deep foundation software certification are provided on completion, removing the back-and-forth that often comes with traditional piling methods.
