Grounds Screws | Self Installation Ground Screws

Ground Screw Foundations

Ground screws are the fast, clean alternative to concrete foundations – and they've been our core offering for over 15 years. We're one of the UK's most experienced ground screw suppliers and installers, trusted by thousands of domestic and trade customers across the country.

About Ground Screw Foundations

Ground screws deliver a strong, stable, load-bearing foundation without the mess, waste, and waiting time of concrete. Whether it’s a backyard shed, a garden room, a run of fencing, a full timber deck, or a timber frame build, they adapt to projects of every size.

We supply ground screws for DIY self-installation and trade projects across the UK, with professional installation available nationwide for customers who want a fully managed solution.

How Ground Screws Work

Each ground screw is a galvanised steel shaft with helical blades welded to the lower section.

As the ground screw is rotated into the ground – either by hand using a ratchet tool or with a lightweight machine driver – the blades interlock into the soil and compact it around the shaft. This creates a dense, stable anchor point that resists both vertical pressure and lateral forces.

Once installed, the top of the screw sits above ground level, ready to accept a bracket that connects directly to your timber frame, joist, or post. The whole process is quick, clean, and reversible.

What You Can Build With Ground Screws

Ground screws are incredibly versatile. They’re used across domestic and light commercial projects of all shapes and sizes, including:

Garden rooms and summer houses

Decking and raised platforms

Sheds, workshops, and home offices

Annexes and extensions

Fencing, pergolas, and railings

Event structures and temporary buildings

Solar panel arrays and signage

Modular buildings and classrooms

Because each screw is installed individually, they adapt easily to sloping ground, uneven terrain, and sites with restricted access – places where concrete would be difficult, expensive, or simply not practical.

Why Choose Ground Screws Over Concrete?

Ground screws are hot-dip galvanised to BS EN 1461:2009 and backed by CE approval and a 20-year product guarantee. They’re built to last – and if your plans change down the line, they can be removed and even relocated. Try doing that with a concrete slab!
