Butterfield Signs / McDonalds
United Kingdom & Ireland

Butterfield Signs And Mcdonald's Engaged Our Team To Provide An Innovative, Clean, And Low-Impact Foundation Alternative To Conventional Concrete Pads.
This Case Study Details Our Successful Partnership In Facilitating The Rollout Of New Digital Drive-Thru Menus And Height Restriction Frames Across More Than 300 Mcdonald's Stores In England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, And Northern Ireland.
The challenge
McDonalds required a foundation solution that did not involve concrete, closure of drive thru lanes and time consuming works. The quantity of installations and area to cover was vast. Therefore, a fast, reliable and quality controlled solution was required.
The solution
To address the unique challenges presented by McDonald’s drive-thru operations, we implemented a Ground Screw and steel sub-system solution for the installation of the digital menu signage and height restriction frames. Key aspects of the solution included:
- Installation of 2 x 76mm x 1250mm hot dip galvanised Ground Screws per digital menu.
- Design and fabrication of steel sub-rails to allow Butterfield Signs a quick a installation and commission of their digital signage.
- Minimal disruption to their drive thru lanes as works were completed within an hour time frame at their least busy hour in both the AM and PM of the day with 2 stores per day per team were completed.
- Drive thru remained operational and allowed generation of revenue. The use of concrete would have forced closure of the drive thru lanes for a minimum of a day.
