Site-specific helical pile design and full installation of 89R screw piles with RC slab for a new-build garage foundation with Building Control Approval

Screw Foundations UK delivered a complete foundation solution for this new-build garage, providing both the site-specific helical pile design and the full supply and installation of a reinforced concrete (RC) slab supported on our engineered screw pile system.

Following a detailed ground assessment and structural review, our engineering team designed a bespoke pile layout to ensure long-term stability, minimal ground disturbance, and full compliance with the project’s load requirements.

Scope of Works Delivered

Site-specific helical pile design, including load calculations and structural detailing
Supply and installation of all helical screw piles
Fabrication and installation of the pile caps and reinforcement
Construction of the RC slab, poured and finished by our in-house team
Quality assurance checks, torque monitoring, and installation reporting

Pile Specification

The foundation utilised our 89R helical pile range, installed to depths of:

4 metres
6 metres
8 metres

These varying depths were selected to achieve the required torque values and ensure each pile reached competent bearing strata, providing a stable and durable foundation solution for the garage structure.

I had a wonderful experience with this company - the installation team was fantastic. I had cleared the land but they then installed 16 screws and built a wooden floor-frame all in about 4 hours. Everything was done to millimetre precision.

As a total newby at using ground screws, the information and advice on their site was fantastic, and when I reached out to Pav by phone he was of great assistance. The Ground Screw Centre were really helpful answering the many questions I had before buying from them. The screws were great, I'm really happy I went for them rather than concrete. There's definitely a skill to putting them in, but once in they made a great support for out large garden lodge. Really recommend the screws and the team!!

The Ground screws were super easy to install myself. I recommend the ratcheted installation tool. And doing them after some rain when the ground is softer. Much easier and more pleasant than concrete. Fab customer service too!

Very straightforward and easy to order. Help to select correct fittings was given. Delivery was ahead of time and all correct. Installation was straightforward using the rented ratchet tool. An excellent product, good to install and does the job 👍👍 In no time at all my workshop/studio was on the way to completion. Would highly recommend using ground screws and would certainly use again.

I do not often leave reviews but on this occasion, I felt that I should because I think the service and product provided by The Ground Screw Centre was excellent. In the first instance I was attracted to TGSC because they offered a trial service; 1 ground screw, bracket and the rental of the ratchet tool. I was not sure that I would be able to get the screws into the ground. I did and the trial set gave me the confidence to proceed with the project.
I ordered the remaining brackets and screws and they arrived promptly. I then found that I had ordered the wrong size brackets. I rang TGSC and the replacement brackets arrived the next day special delivery and at no extra charge. I just had to return the wrong brackets once I had finished with the rental tool. BTW anyone thinking of this should definitely get the ratchet tool. All the ground screws are now in place with a sub-base built ready for my new log cabin. The alternative of a concrete base would have been significantly more difficult to do due to access and a slope to the ground, and I expect significantly more expensive.
